Amazing performance for a decent price. OEM quality and reliability.

Difficulty of install: 6 / 10

It is basically a direct bolt-on for gen II 3S-GTE's, however rusted/seized bolts make the install mechanically difficult. It can be awkward to access many of the factory catalytic convertor bolts if you do not yet have an aftermarket downpipe.

Description

The CT20b turbo is a factory Toyota unit, which can be found on the 1994-99 Celica ST205 and MR2's with the 3rd generation of the 3S-GTE engine. It is a direct bolt on to the 2nd generation 3S-GTE exhaust manifold and exhaust downpipe, although it does have an extra bolt for the downpipe which can be left unused. The lower turbo brace also does not line up without customization (welding). Basically, it is a factory bolt on upgrade for your 2nd gen 3S-GTE.

The CT20b has amazing performance in my opinion. Full boost is reached by 2500 rpm, which is much faster than the factory CT26 turbo even if upgraded. Some other turbo upgrades take until nearly 4000 rpm to hit full boost. Although the CT20b spools up very quickly, it maintains full boost and makes excellent power up to redline. Power even at the stock boost of 9 psi is great, probably close to a mildly upgraded CT26 at 14 psi. It is really that good. The CT20b has the potential to make 400hp on the 3S-GTE. I highly recommend this upgrade if you are lucky enough to find one for a decent price. It is simple to install, and performs extremely well.
